The maker
Mauricio Naranjo
Mauricio makes native flutes the slow way — by hand, one at a time, in a workshop lined with instruments in progress.
Each begins as a single piece of cane or hardwood. He shapes and bores it, opens the holes, and voices the mouthpiece, then tunes the finished flute by ear. The aim is never perfection in the machine sense — it’s a living instrument that feels good to hold and rewards being played.
Because everything is made individually, most flutes here exist exactly once. When one finds its player, it’s gone.

One at a time
No batches, no machines doing the listening. Each flute is made start to finish by hand, so each carries its own voice.
Natural materials
River cane, hardwoods, leather and feather — chosen for grain, weight, and the way they age.
Tuned by ear
Every instrument is voiced and tuned by ear, then documented with its key and dimensions before it leaves the workshop.
